Mixto Listo, Cementos Progreso and Agreca have made a significant milestone by obtaining international sourcing certifications from the Concrete Sustainability Council (CSC).

The Concrete Sustainability Council (CSC) has recognized Mixto Listo, Cementos Progreso and Agreca with the Responsible Sourcing Certification for Construction Materials, highlighting their leadership in sustainability within the construction industry across Latin America and the world.

Mixto Listo reaffirms its environmental commitment by receiving the recertification of five of its key plants: Planta Norte, Planta Salcajá, Planta Sur, Planta Escuintla, and Planta Carretera a El Salvador. These facilities have demonstrated high standards of operational excellence and environmental responsibility.

Cementos Progreso, for its part, achieved a significant milestone by certifying, for the first time, its San Miguel and San Gabriel, plants, making it the third cement company to be certified in the Americas and ranked 30th and 31st globally. This achievement solidifies its position as a leader in sustainability and innovation within the industry.

Furthermore, Agreca, the aggregates business unit, set a precedent by becoming the first certified company of its kind in Latin America, standing out as a benchmark for responsible practices in the region.

According to Mario Orellana, General Manager of the Guatemala and Belize Region of Cementos Progreso, this certification reflects the team’s effort to implement sustainable practices that enhance both processes and the surrounding environment.

These certifications, backed by the Ibero-American Federation of Ready-Mixed Concrete (FIHP), validate that Progreso meets the highest international standards.

According to Cynthia Imesch, coordinator of the CSC, “Progreso leads by example, inspiring the industry to adopt more responsible and sustainable practices”.

The certifications promote more efficient processes, reduce environmental impact, and generate trust among developers, architects, and contractors, transforming national and regional construction into a more conscious and sustainable model.

Progreso not only innovates in its operations, as demonstrated by the Beta Project for 3D concrete printing, but also invests in community development. In 2024, Progreso allocated US$6.1 million to social programs benefiting over 170,000 people.

Among these projects is HogaRES, which has improved the quality of life for 5,000 families by replacing dirt floors with concrete, promoting resilient and healthy spaces.

The company also invests in environmental management initiatives, such as water efficiency, waste co-processing, and responsible forest management, supported by continuous audits to ensure compliance with international standards.

José Raúl González, CEO of Progreso, summarized this commitment: “At Progreso, profits are not the goal, but rather the result of living according to our values and working for the well-being of employees, clients, communities, and the environment”.

Progreso’s leadership in sustainability, backed by international certifications, is not only transforming the construction industry but also driving positive change in the country.

From technological innovation to social impact, Progreso continues advancing towards a more responsible construction model, contributing to building the country we all want to live in.
