Values and Sustainability

Progreso operates under the ethical values and strict legal compliance that differentiate and characterize us to date. These principles are the pillars of our behavior, reflected in the seven strategic axes that guide our Leadership Agenda. We have implemented the ISO 37001:2016 Anti-Bribery Management Systems standard, which places us at the forefront of compliance issues, being one of the first corporations to adopt this standard in the region.

Our vision of sustainability is based on the creation of long-term shared value, both for the company and for our various stakeholders. This year, we presented our fifth Sustainability Report, entitled “We grew to create value,” which measures the performance of our 2015-2025 Sustainability Strategy.

Our report complies with the highest standards included in Law 11-2018 on Non-Financial Information and Diversity Guidelines, to which we are subject. It is also aligned with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) in its standard version, a comprehensive option, which includes thematic content on taxation. Our strategy is also aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and the Principles of the United Nations Global Compact, commitments that we proudly follow.

Progreso’s business model is governed by our Code of Ethics, Values and Conduct (COVEC), which defines the policies, procedures and practices that allow us to be a responsible company that respects human rights.

We have adopted two fundamental policies: Corporate Citizenship and Human Rights. These policies are essential to our relationship with our employees, suppliers, customers, communities and all the stakeholders we impact.

This commitment to empowering communities and creating lasting value is not a new direction for us, it is deeply rooted in the very foundation of our company. From the vision of our founder, promoting and respecting Human Rights has been a guiding principle in everything we do. That is why we have begun the process of socializing our Human Rights Policy with all our stakeholders. In addition, in collaboration with the Human Rights Ombudsman (PDH), we are coordinating a course aimed at Senior Management and Corporate Security Personnel, with the aim of reinforcing our culture of respect and promotion of these principles.

Progreso is the first company in Guatemala to adhere to the 10 Principles of the United Nations Global Compact. In addition, we are co-founders of the Guatemala Global Compact Network and hold the first two presidencies of the network, reaffirming our commitment to the principles enshrined in the Global Compact.

As for our efforts to maintain a close and transparent relationship with neighboring communities, we have implemented the “Tu Voz Cuenta” program, a communication space where we receive and respond to comments, suggestions and complaints related to our activities. In addition, we have a Neighborhood Service Center in Cruz Blanca, San Juan Sacatepéquez, where we promote dialogue and generate joint projects with the communities.

With the corporate purpose of «Building together the country where we want to live», we seek to generate economic, social, and environmental value in each of the countries where we operate.
